When
he set out to design a signature bathroom, Bertrand Lejoly’s goal was to convey
a feeling of warmth, coziness, and intimacy. “I wanted to use warm materials
and accessories to avoid the sterile and cold atmosphere that is sometimes
found in bathrooms”. He therefore embraced the trend of
designing the bathroom as a warm place of retreat that combines an open room
design with intimate elements, and where the materials harmonize perfectly with
the desaturated moss-green wall color.
The floor plan
Balanced Floor Plan
To
successfully balance an open and inviting bathroom on the one hand with an
intimate place of retreat on the other, Bertrand Lejoly deployed an
unconventional subdivision of the double washbasin.
“I wanted to create a
direct link to the bedroom, which is why it was important to strike the right
balance between openness and a seamless transition between the two areas. At
the same time, this creates a harmonious symmetry and optimally uses the
available space.”
The floor plan
Despite
the open bathroom design, Bertrand Lejoly’s plan includes some intimate spaces
for retreat. The shower and toilet are located behind two doors that provide
the necessary privacy.
Reserved style
Bertrand Lejoly selected his own D-Neo bathroom range for the interior equipment and reinterpreted it for the new ambience: “D-Neo
is subtle – and never dominant. At the same time, the range does not shrink
into the background, but rather emphasizes the individual accents of the
interior”.

The Versatility of D-Neo
Combined with warm and soft materials, the complete bathroom range D-Neo acts like a screen that can project any personality into the room. This
flexibility allows the freedom for something unique and timeless to be created.
During
the design process he opted for a minimalistic approach with light, open vanity
units where the most important products are stored within easy reach. The tall
cabinets and the bathtub underpin the clear visual
lines.
Sink area and storage
In
addition to the pared-down washing-area solutions, Bertrand Lejoly opted for
two tall cabinets in which all other products and textiles are stored behind
closed doors. This retains the
lightness of the bathroom without compromising on storage.
The bathtub
At
the heart of the bathroom is the freestanding bathtub of the D-Neo series. This bathtub impresses with its compact dimensions and velvety
soft cast-mineral surface.
Materials and details
Choice of Materials and Details
When selecting
the materials, Bertrand Lejoly opted for dark wood and black faucets. “Green plays a central role in the room and subtly
complements the materials, giving the whole room a consistent feel,” he added.
This sets the bathroom apart from the more reserved colors used in the other
rooms to create a genuine place of retreat.
The
shower and shower-toilet are placed behind doors. When closed, the doors give the
impression of a storage wall that harmoniously rounds off the overall picture
of the bathroom.
The shower-toilet
With
its flat, sleek design, the SensoWash® D-Neo slots effortlessly into the overall
concept and offers appealing shower-toilet comfort.
The shower cabinet
The
shower is also located behind a door. The showerhead ensures a feel-good shower
experience, while the concealed shower mixer blends into the visual lines of
the design.
Matching accessories
Details
that make day-to-day life easier are often overlooked. For that reason,
Bertrand Lejoly opted for towel hooks from the Starck T range in matching
black. Hand and bath towels can be placed directly next to the washbasin and on
the way into the shower.
