Zencha – Ceremony of Zen
With Zencha, Sebastian Herkner - inspired by traditional Japanese rituals and craftsmanship - has created a well-thought-out bathroom series that combines unusual above counter basins with purist furniture. The most striking design feature of the basin and bathtub is the rounded shape, which ends in a graceful, softly curved outward edge.

Green highlight: PEFC (PEFC/04-31-2357) certified bathroom furniture
It’s not just its design that makes Duravit furniture unique. Made entirely in Germany, with PEFC (PEFC/04-31-2357) certified wood, Zencha bathroom furniture is sustainable and of excellent quality. But what makes the furniture so sustainably good?
1. Duravit uses duroplastic PUR adhesives, which result in an optimal bond between the furniture edge and the chipboard
2. No open edges, even those that are not visible, e.g. the siphon cut-out in the vanity unit is sealed by Duravit - perfect for damp rooms
3. The rear panel is glued with a groove, which is completely glued to the body. This creates a free space between the furniture and the wall, which allows some circulation. This means that hardly any moisture can accumulate behind the furniture.
4. In some series, Duravit uses a melamine resin overlay, a particularly hard and scratch-resistant synthetic resin. No scratches means no moisture or germs getting into the furniture.f

Ceramics
The above counter basins, inspired by Japanese tea bowls, are slightly bulbous at the bottom and taper with a subtle curve to a slightly outward sloping rim. The wash bowls made of DuraCeram® with rounded corners are available in square or rectangular, and optionally with or without a tap hole platform. The drain cover in the ceramic color is perfectly integrated into the basin, and the rigid slotted waste protects against overflowing of the basin. A special expression of the outstanding quality is the lifetime warranty that is granted on Zencha ceramics.

Furniture and cabinets
Purist furniture with its straight lines and plenty of storage space creates a harmonious contrast to the organically curved sanitary products. A distinctive feature of the furniture is the delicate frame that is only 6 mm thick. The resulting shadow gap makes the furniture look elegant and light. Zencha furniture is modular and versatile - as open shelves or drawers with tip-on and self-closing technology. In combination with the above counter basin, they become a shapely eye-catcher in the bathroom.
Storage space
As storage space for everyday things, the furniture and cupboards structure the room and create coziness across different style worlds. Thanks to Soft-Closure, the drawers close gently and silently.
The body and frame of the furniture are available with an easy-to-clean surface with anti-fingerprint effect in subtle colors. Cabinet fronts in natural oak and black oak look warm and tactile, white flat glass and black textured glass bring sensual elegance to the bathroom.

Mirror
To complement this, Herkner has also designed a separate mirror that replicates the contour of the round basins. The organic shape is accentuated by an all-around LED strip, while the light can be controlled either with a sensor on the bottom of the mirror or by using the smart Casambi app. With more than 300 lux, the glare-free light source can also serve as the main lighting in the bathroom.
Bathtubs
The rectangular version of the freestanding bathtub made of DuroCast Plus, measuring 1250 x 1250 mm, derives its shape from the square above counter basin. With the appropriate depth, it invites you to immerse yourself in the soothing water, reminiscent of a Japanese onsen bath. The tub is also available in two compact versions measuring 1600 x 850 mm and 1800 x 900 mm. The optional Whirl Air System with gentle massage function ensures relaxation.
Matching toilets and bidets
Wall-mounted Happy D.2 toilets in white or anthracite matt, as well as matching bidets, perfectly complement Zencha. The SensoWash® Starck f shower toilet also perfectly matches Zencha’s style, completing the bathroom retreat in an elegant and comfortable way.
Matching faucets and accessories
With the high-quality C.1 faucets, optionally in chrome or black matt or the elegant White Tulip faucets by Philippe Starck, the Zencha washbasin creates a harmonious overall picture. The Starck T accessories for the washbasin and toilet area also match perfectly in black matt or chrome - whichever look you prefer.
